“Get out and vote to protect your wealth,” says Tervuren’s Flemish liberal leader Thomas Geyns, speaking upstairs in the café Keizerskroon. Geyns today launched his campaign for a seat in the Flemish parliament.
“Our freedom is at stake. Wherever they’ve been in power, left or right-wing extremists have never increased individual liberty,” he says.
Geyns is campaigning for a seat in the Flemish parliament with voting held at the same time as European and federal elections on Sunday 9 June.
And on Sunday 9 October, Thomas stands again as the top candidate for Democraten Tervuren — a local coalition between the Flemish catholic and liberal parties. He’s eyeing the post of mayor — worth some €96,000 per year and currently held by Flemish nationalist Marc Charlier (NV-A).
Charlier, too, is standing for the Flemish parliament on 13 June, competing that day with another contender for Tervuren’s mayorship, Flemish Green Bram Peters.
