Garage Sale now three years old

This year's edition will see around 100 garage sellers as in 2023. Perhaps the first Covid edition was special as people wanted to get out and meet each other. For the future, Olivier points to the difficulty of getting people who live in the center of Tervuren out to Moorsel, Vossem and Duisburg.

You wouldn’t think it but the Tervuren garage sale was first organized in May 2021 by Transitie Tervuren with some 220 participants. That was in the midst of Covid masks with sellers and buyers required to disinfect their hands before handing over money, holding materials and the like.

Even if the Garage Sale started during Covid, the first edition had the strongest turn-out. But aside from the long-gone Covid measures, the basic ingredients remain for Sunday 19 May: all Tervurenaars can sell their second-hand treasures in front of their house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. And there’s one simple website for the map, poster and registration at transitietervuren.be/garagesale.

Transitie Tervuren's Olivier Bori was first against the idea but a friend had too many things to sell.

“My dream for the next edition is to organize a bicycle rally in parallel, like a treasure hunt, with stands scattered everywhere, bringing together other associations or anyone with challenges to offer,” Olivier tells Teruvren+.

Handy with IT, Olivier worked out an interactive map on Transitie Tervuren’s website.

The garage sale map is now online and registrations are still possible.

Practical information: the QR code on the poster provides access to the map of the garage sales and can be used on a smartphone in GPS mode. Feel free to inform passersby and give them the opportunity to scan the QR code.

Only one URL: transitietervuren.be/garagesale (Map, Poster, Registration).
